The
Challenge
Due
to development and societal growth, many of our nation's wildlife habitats
and corridors have been lost forcing animals into unsafe, developed areas.
They soon become a nuisance and ultimately, face extinction. Now we have
a whole new challenge. Our goal is not to put a stop to societal growth,
but to learn ways to reap the harvest that life offers without trampling
the ground beneath us.
Our
Plan
At
Wildwood
Farms, we have developed through field research with the help of Carrol
Henderson, Minnesota DNR Non-Game Wildlife Director, a feed and seed
program that will enable us to get a grasp on the ever-disappearing wildlife
habitats and corridors. In our Native Wildlife Mix, every seed has a purpose.
From the bitter, wildlife favorite African sorghum to the indigestible
bushberry seeds, our feed promotes a perfectly balanced feeding program
for the wildlife.

CORN -
The basic grain for almost
all wildlife. One of the best sources of energy required for growth and
maintenance of body warmth. |

BUCKWHEAT -
A rare, hearty cereal grain
grown in North America. Leftover seeds will sprout and re-seed creating
corridors. These corridors, typically tall grasses and grain stalks, hold
the scent of animals and are necessary for animals to retrace their paths
back to the wild. |

MILLET -
An excellent small feed for
small wildlife and game birds alike. Provides protein and energy. The uneaten
seed will also sprout and provide cover. |

GRAIN SORGHUM -
A hearty grain first grown
in Africa. Sorghum has most of the feeding properties of corn with a slightly
bitter taste preferred by some game birds. This seed will also re-seed
and provide great coverage as a future food source. |

FORTIFIED WILDLIFE
PELLETS
Formulated according to the
guidelines of the U.S. Department of Natural Resources, these pellets are
packed with vitamins and minerals with the health and nutrition of all

SEEDS
These seeds, consisting of
Redosier Dogwood and Choke Cherry seeds, are a real treat for wildlife,
and when consumed, pass through the digestive tract and germinate to help
