Tips
for the Serious Birder.
For
best results in attracting a variety of wild birds to your backyard, take
note of a few key tips from well-known bird expert and non-game director
for Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources, Carrol Henderson.
Feed
year round, including summer. This practice tends to keep birds in the
area.
Attract
a variety of birds by having several clusters of three to four feeders
at various places in the backyard.
Keep
the birds healthy. It is important for bird seed to contain about 75% sunflower
seeds. Niger thistle, suet and peanuts also can be offered.
In
general, a variety of quality birdseed, and the attraction of water, will
increase bird numbers and species at backyard feeders.
